Fabric Scrap Give Away

Ok, so here it is just a few weeks until Christmas.  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
My craft room is a disaster and I just can't show pictures of it to you like I promised.  So instead I am going to give a FREE scrap bag to the 15th person that comments on this blog post.   These scraps will be small, but large enough to make yo yos, sachets, mug rugs, children's crafts, collages, scrapbooking and crafts like the ones pictured.

The first picture is of potholders and mug rugs that I made from scraps and fat quarters.

The next picture is of the wool penny candle mats that I hand stitched with pearl cotton thread and lavender sachets made with lavender buds.  They smell so good and work great placed in your linen closet or chest of drawers.

The last picture shows the small strawberry pin cushions and fruits of my labor pin cushions  (ha ha)  made from my favorite fabrics.

Please check out my etsy shop  fabricdesigns http://www.etsy.com/shop/fabricdesigns and see what I have for sale.  If you have any questions, just let me know.  Gotta go - getting ready for a craft show in a few days.  Happy Crafting.  DeAnna

Double Lung Transplant

Ok, so here is the story about my friend Sherri.  Please check out her site http://cherishedair.com/.  I have been working with Sherri for about a dozen years. She started out with a cough and we thought she had bronchitis.  She went to the dr. and eventually found out that she had a rare disease called LAMS.  This is a disease that happens to women of child bearing age.  Over 2 years ago Sherri was diagonsed with LAMS disease.   She has been living in Seattle near the U of W for about 6 months.  She  has been very ill and has made many trips to ER.   This week Sherri received the call and she went into surgey yesterday, April 14, 2011.  We have been receiving updates from the family and she is breathing on her own.  Please pray for her, affirm, whatever it takes, burn candles, etc. for her.  She needs all the support that she can get.  Also a family has lost a loved one in order for Sherri to live.  Please keep  them in your thoughts as well.  Thank you for your care and concern.

DIY Bathroom Remodel

I just have to share my new bathroom with you.  We have a few finishing touches to complete, but it's nearly done and I have moved back in.  I just couldn't bare to share the old before pictures with you as the avocado green was so bad and they would not clean up anymore after 35 years of use so you will have to settle for the after pictures.

New blue bird candles and ocean scented diffuser from Pier I

Home Depot got most of our money
Pictures and glass holder from Pier I and shells from my own personal collection

This project started out to be a DIY project.  My husband did all the demolition work and put the new white tub and sink in and painted the ceiling and walls.  Then my brother-in-law came and did all the tile work, flooring, formica and so forth.  It saved us alot of money by doing part of the work ourselves and we were happy to pay BIL for his part.   Thanks for taking a look and now maybe I can get back to etsy.

Spokane Orchid Society Show and Sale

Ok, so I haven't posted any pictures of my DIY bathroom remodel project (because it isn't quite done) and I haven't listed the Amy Butler Quilt on etsy yet, but I'm getting close so I chose to blog about something else that I love.

This week has been a busy one.  My mom had a dr's appointment on Thursday and we waited and waited for the dr. and it seemed like we were there forever.  Then the dr. wanted to know why mom's blood pressure was high.  dah   Well after that I thought I would do something real nice for her - so today we headed to Spokane, Wa for the Spokane Orchid Society Show and Sale.   Look at this beauty.
Mom and I love flowers and we keep trying to grow and bloom orchids.  We are seeing more success, but they can be difficult.  I don't want to scare anyone off, as they are so much fun and just like babies, you have to keep an eye on them and take care of them, but don't water them too much or they will die.   Here's are a few more pictures.

Have a nice Sunday - see you soon.  DeAnna - fabricdesigns

It's Friday - My Favorite Day of the Week!

Below you will find a great recipe for Restaurant Style Smashed Potatoes  - it is a hit every place I take it.   You and your family will love it and it is easy too.  This recipe is from one of my favorite blogs http://thepioneerwoman.com/ .  Ree Drummond is quite a lady so be sure to check out her site.

Well it's been quite a week.  The weather here in Northern Idaho is starting to warm up a bit so maybe I should start a little yard cleanup and get ready for planting spring flowers and vegetables or on the other hand maybe I should go golfing?

Our bathroom is still in disrepair, I mean DIY makeover.  Getting rid of the avacado green toilet, sink and tub was a must.  Yeah, my brother in law just called and is coming in the morning to do the tile, floor, countertops and so forth.

Now, back to etsy and what's up with that. I've decided to sell the Amy Butler Daisy Chain quilt that I made for myself so keep a watch for the listing.

Hope you and yours have a great weekend.

It's Friday - my favorite day of the week!

I'm off to quilt camp with my bestest girlfriends for a couple days of sewing, quilting, eating, and sharing stories.  This is such a wonderful time to share and I haven't been able to go to camp for a year so it's welcoming.  I'm going to northern Idaho where the snow is deep.  I will be sure to share some pictures with you when I get back.    http://www.myidaholodge.com/

Food for thought and much more.

This has nothing to do with fabric or quilting, but I want to share this awesome website with you.  Everyone likes to eat and Pioneer Woman http://thepioneerwoman.com/ Ree Drummond has an incredible blog about cooking, confessions, home schooling, photography, Marlboro Man, home and gardening and of course Tasty Kitchen.  Ree recently release her book: Black Heels and Tractor Wheels. http://thepioneerwoman.com/blog/2010/11/black-heels-the-book/    She has quite a story to tell.  Best of all I love to check out her site every week to see what she is cooking and add a few new recipes to my file.  Let me know what you think.

It's Friday and I have something to share with you.

Please watch this amazing video about a blind woman from Texas who loves to make quilts.  I am a quilter and can't imagine how she does this without her sight.  It just goes to show that a person can do anything that they put their mind to.  Have a great Friday - see you soon.  DeAnna
